Gibbons Camp - Gatton Shire
Ref: Brisbane:
Cemeteries as Sources -
Brisbane History Group. Papers No 13 - 1994
This shows a map of the location, and there is a today a gazetted road
to there.
Visiting the site there is indeed a 'road' which is today a track along
one edge of a paddock, with barbed wire fence. The track ends abruptly
and this is where the burial ground was expected to be found. The
fencing according to the GPS coordinates would appear to encompass the
burial ground. The area at the end of the track, and looking into the
field where the burial area was expected yielded no evidence of any
remaining memorials.
The above book says the burial ground operated from 1867-1870. Using
sources from QFHS there is a
list of names (below) and the age, cause of death, date of death and
place of death.
