Irvinebank

Tropical Atherton Tablelands, North Queensland, Australia

The people of Irvinebank invite you to 'step back in time' in their heritage - listed townscape or find out What's New online.

Once home to 3000 people and center of an industrial empire that spurred the development of the Tropical North, today Irvinebank is a peaceful mountain retreat and a living museum of pioneer history. The town and environs are teeming with wildlife and is home of rare flora.

Visitors are welcome to use our 'print'n'drive guides to develop their own itinery and town tour. Local guides to the town or region can be arranged through Loudoun House Museum.

Irvinebank is only 27 kms from Herberton, 43 kms from Atherton and 140 kms from Cairns. The last 12 kms from Herberton is unsealed road and the road is unsealed from Irvinebank to Petford.

Accommodation, fuel, meals, drinks and basic supplies are available at the Irvinebank Tavern and camping is free!

A community of 90 people share the task of maintaining and restoring the School of Arts Town Hall (1900), Loudoun House (1884) and the Old Police Station and Courtroom (1886). There are also many beautifully restored private residences, including Mango Cottage and Freethinker.

You can support our efforts from anywhere in the world through subscriptions & donations to Friends of Loudoun House, support of our fundraising activities and annual festival or by purchasing books and multi media products from our mail order/online Catalogue.

Irvinebank is part of Australia's Tropical Outback - One of the worlds' great adventures.
