DSTC actively pursues new opportunities to turn research ideas into commercially successful
local businesses.
We focus primarily on developing new research applications that
can be engineered to substantially improve the business operations
of our clients in the
health
and
defence
Industries.
DSTC also license a
suite
of technologies designed to increase the efficiency of conducting
your daily business.
Our company has a long and proud history of establishing successful
technology companies. Our commercialisation strategy has led to
the creation of five spin-off companies – an average of
one every three years since DSTC was established. Our most recent
spin-off companies are Mantara Pty Ltd and Wedgetail Pty Ltd.
Spin-off : Mantara Software
DSTC's latest spin-off venture, Queensland-based Mantara Software,
was established in 2003 to commercialise a network messaging
technology developed under DSTC’s R&D program. The
company sells an advanced middleware product, called Elvin,
that can distribute discrete messages to any number of information
consumers. The technology vastly improves the scope of network
communications and provides huge savings in the transfer of
information - both in terms of time and money. DSTC retains
a minority position in Mantara Software with the Company being
run and controlled by its two founders who are both ex-DSTC
staff.
Spin-off : Wedgetail Communications
Founded in 2000 and headquartered in Brisbane, Australia, spin-off
company Wedgetail Communications is one of DSTC’s earliest
success stories. The company was established as a direct result
of IT security breakthroughs in DSTC’s R&D program.
In July 2004 Wedgetail announced a merger with US enterprise
solutions company, Vintela, Inc, a leading provider of innovative
platform integration solutions for UNIX and Microsoft Windows.
