Welcome to Rathdowney : [SLQ] - The town of Rathdowney is located on the Mt Lindesay Highway 96kms south of Brisbane and 32kms south of Beaudesert in South East Queensland. Rathdowney was the name of the property that was settled by Thomas Lodge Murray-Prior in 1876. The property passed to William Collins in about 1880 and the land was broken up, the township being developed about 1906. Rathdowney is the small hub of the surrounding rural community. Its beginnings revolve around dairying and the timber industry. This site illustrates accomodation options and tourist activities, including bushwalking in the surrounding Lamington National Park and Mt Barney region. It also provides a succint history of the area.
